Alka Seltzer

Alka Seltzer is a pain relief medication that works on indigestion, upset
stomach, headaches, and minor body aches and pains. It was the first relief medication that came in a dissolvable form, where you drop it in water and
it disperses itself into a drinkable form, and is in the same form as when originally released on February 21, 1931. It was the first product that was
commonly referred to as a “fizzy”. This review will only address the original product, and not all the incarnations that have succeeded it, such as it’s
cold medicine.

Alka Seltzer’s main ingredients are 325 milligrams of aspirin, 1000 milligrams of citric acid, and 1916 milligrams of sodium bicarbonate, the part that
causes the fizz. Nowadays you can find flavors, but I tend to like to stick to the original.

There are many other products on the market, but this one is always my first choice. Throughout the years, I’ve had different issues with indigestion,
and have tried other products. However, Alka Seltzer became my number one choice based on two incidences in 1993 and 1994, one with too much
onion content in meatloaf, the other after a meal at a Thai restaurant. The only product that could offer any relief whatsoever was Alka Seltzer,
because it was the only product that could induce a burp from me (no other way of saying it), releasing the trapped gas that was causing me such
distress.

Alka Seltzer comes in foil packets of two, though sometimes only one is needed. This means it’s easy to carry, and easy to access. For some,
drinking it is problematic because they don’t like the tingling sensation, and of course sodium bicarbonate is salty; it has sodium in it, after all.
However, no matter what some of the chewable tablet makers say, to me it’s the fastest acting of all products on the market, and it actually feels
like its working.

Supposedly, the sale of this product is declining because of other pain relievers now on the market that are more popular than aspirin, as well as
better tasting stomach relief products. I don’t know about all of that; what I know is that Alka Seltzer works well for me, and it’s a product I can
wholeheartedly give a positive review to.
